detail of a mixed printing paper that, as evidenced by the straight cut fibre ends, must have been beaten in low consistency with high beating pressure (Mierzinski sample 026). The paper is composed of 40% rags, 40% CWP and 20% MWP. The average lenght of the fibres in this detail is around 250 µm. Other samples of the same paper show that the longest fibres are about 400-500 µm. The sheet still has substance and a good rattle. Micrographs taken at 100x enlargement.
